Softness is the Remedy
Episode 67 of the podcast (with a recipe!) is now available everywhere you listen
Thank you for being here. Access to your inbox is a privilege and one I take seriously. As an independent artist, my life is fully supported by what I write and create. This substack is currently free and it would help me greatly if you share it far and wide. Plus, it gives you a nice lil’ boost of good karma.
Today’s episode of the podcast is a departure from my traditional storytelling format. Instead, I share how I leaned into softness to move me through a slump or creative block, a period of de-motivation, a lack of inspiration, or call it whatever you’d like.
In this episode, I share twelve ways I leaned into softness (rather than hardness) in order to move through this stretch of tightness. I also share my first recipe in years, which is written down below. I hope it finds you wild as ever, but staying soft as well. Take care of all the parts of you, sweet soul.
Brown Butter Basted Eggs and Toast
Ingredients:
3 tablespoons salted butter
2 large eggs
1 scallion
1-2 slices sourdough bread
Sea salt, to taste
Directions:
Melt 3 tablespoons of butter in a frying pan over medium heat. As it melts, crack two eggs into the pan. While they begin to sizzle, finely slice a scallion and toast a slice or two of sourdough bread. As the egg whites begin to set and the butter begins to brown, toss most of the scallion over the eggs. Tilt the pan away from you to allow the brown butter to pool and spoon it over the yokes, basting the yellows until they are set to your liking. Set the eggs on a plate with the toast. Spoon any remaining butter over the toast and eggs, to your heart’s desire. Sprinkle with the remaining scallions and sea salt. Enjoy slowly and softly, using the toast to mop up all that flavor.
I hope these stories on the sweetness of life and the magic that unfolds when you listen to your soul inspire you to see the magic always unfolding in your own life. If this post resonates, please share it to help support my work.
