Hello sweet souls,
Today is 3 Kame in the Mayan Sacred Calendar—and we are still inside the first twenty days of the days of creation, when what we plant has weight, and heft, and the power to shape what comes.
Kame is the nawal of the ancestors, of the threshold between worlds, of transformation and rebirth. And 3 is the spark that moves something interior outward into form.
It feels like exactly the right day for this transmission, because what I am sharing today is meant to take root in you and grow.
This is the second transmission of June—a month dedicated to Receptivity: The Key to Worthiness and Receiving—and it is open to all. Because the practice of receptivity is not something I want to gate. It is something I want to put in your hands.
In the first transmission, I made the case that the wound underneath so much of what we cannot yet receive is not unworthiness. It is a closed field. This transmission is about what to do about that—how to become an open field, in practice, in the body, in real life.
I share the small, almost embarrassing practice that started everything for me—and how it began a cascade. I tell you how Cacao, the Mayan Sacred Calendar, Kundalini, and ancestral mediumship each found me, one by one, because I did not go looking for them. They arrived because I was open.
I talk about what the body learns when you cultivate receptivity (hint: safety), why rest is real work, and the difference between receptivity and passivity—because they are not the same thing, and confusing them keeps so many of us stuck.
And I close with a dream I had just last night, about a plant on my fireplace, that taught me everything I have been circling all month.
The full transmission notes are down below.
✨ The Altar is open for enrollment—and there is a gift.
For the next ten days, from today, June 17, through June 27, anyone who joins The Altar will receive a box of incense from me—a kind of incense that has been a bridge in my own life between worlds, between dimensions, and between people.
The Altar is my sacred online membership—a devotional home where you learn to hear your Soul and bridge dimensions. Live Cacao rituals, Kundalini sound journeys, ancestral readings, and restorative practices each month, all on Zoom and recorded. Audio transmissions like this one. Guidance on attuning to the sacred timing of your Soul. And a small, tender community held with great care.
This is the window. Ten days. Join us, and the incense will find its way to you.
Something very personal is coming next week.
For years, I have kept the fullest version of one story mostly to myself—the story of how I became a Sacred Bridge. How the gift moved through my life quietly, persistently, for over a decade before I had language for it. How I was claimed before I understood what was happening. And how I finally said yes.
Next week, I am bringing that story out into the world. And I am doing it because I have come to understand that I am not the only Sacred Bridge—that so many who find their way to my altar carry the gift too, in their own form. I want to show you how I came to recognize and trust mine, so that you might begin to recognize and trust your own.
Watch your inbox. I will share it soon.
However you meet this day—may you take one tiny step toward becoming a more open field.
With you in the practice,
Maggie
June Transmission 2 of 3: Receptivity Is the Real Practice—The Practice of Becoming an Open Field
Get cozy, as the Soul’s voice would say. We will be here for a little while. But, it is worth every moment, promise.
Opening
Start: 0:03
Receptivity is one of those words that can sound vague, or soft, or like something you either are or are not. It is none of those things. It is a practice. It is something you cultivate. And it is not the same as passivity—passivity is collapse, receptivity is devotion.
Section 1: When I Thought I Had No Time
Start: 2:09
The food business. The hundred emails before breakfast. The doing frequency I lived inside for decades, certain I was too busy for anything that would bring me inside—too busy to heed the calls all around me. And maybe you feel this way too: the gym, the kids, the boss, the laundry, the household. I hear you. I am with you. And then something shifted.
Section 2: Good Morning, Sunshine
Start: 4:36
The small, almost insignificant practice that began everything. The big old window in the house I lived in for twenty years. Pulling up the shade and saying aloud—good morning, sunshine—even when it was cloudy, even when the sun was not there. Being teased for it. And the astrologer years later who told me I had been working with one of the dominant energies of my chart, speaking to it as if it were animated. Because it is. Receptivity practice does not have to be more complicated than that.
Section 3: Cacao and the Cascade
Start: 8:11
The package of Ceremonial Cacao that arrived in the mail, for a woman who did not even like chocolate. Cacao and journaling becoming the path to my own inner voice. The pulsing pain the doctors called emotional, and the acupuncture and yoga that asked me to be still. How one small practice started a natural cascade—each ritual emerging on its own—until I made the inner landscape a priority.
Section 4: Passivity Is Not Receptivity
Start: 11:52
The line that matters. Passivity feels like being closed, ambivalent, like dark glasses against the radiance. Receptivity is active, devotional, choosing to try something else now. The living tea ceremony I was called to last month, and my father arriving to speak to me in the field, delighted I had tried something new. And the warning: receptivity can fold into passivity—do nothing can be medicine, or it can become collapse. Receptivity is receiving guidance, taking some action toward the call, and cultivating opening so the universe can meet both.
Section 5: The Traditions Found Me
Start: 17:23
How each tradition arrived rather than being collected. Cacao, ten years before I held circle, the longest yes of all—from tech executive to food writer to Cacao ritualist. The Mayan Sacred Calendar that whooshed through me on a Mayan birthday, the elders who shut me down, the fire that named me. Kundalini that found me when I could not move. And ancestral mediumship, the one I resisted, until my psychic sat me down and said: if you do not do it voluntarily, it will be pressed upon you. The pattern: you open, something arrives, you say yes in small bites, and then one day, the big yes.
Section 6: What the Body Learns
Start: 25:13
Receptivity is rooted in capacity, and capacity is rooted in the body—the field can only stay open as wide as the body can hold. What the body learns: safety, nervous-system regulation, the ability to feel the hard things and not just the joy. The question I get asked—what if a demon comes through?—and my honest answer: I believe in pain, not evil. An open field is not a porous one. I have become less receptive in some ways, drawing careful lines.
Section 7: Rest as Real Work
Start: 30:17
Rest as my biggest reorientation. A life built on chasing the new—markets for twenty-five thousand people, always the next thing—and learning instead to rest in what I know and go deeper. Seeing rest, stillness, naps, long drives as part of the work, the cultivation of the open field so depth can arrive. Napping as a lineage gift and an underrated portal. Rest opens the field. And the field has things to say.
Section 8: Incense as Bridge & The Altar
Start: 35:53
Why incense—the offering to fire, ancestors, lineage, land. The incense I discovered years ago that became a bridge with my ex, who did not understand the work but loved the scent. Meeting the maker by chance in a shop in Topanga—its own small gift for being open. And what The Altar actually is: live gatherings, transmissions, sacred-time guidance, and a small, tenderly held community. The ten-day enrollment window, and the incense waiting for those who join.
Section 9: A Current Story—The Plant in the Night
Start: 42:24
Last night’s dream. The plant on the fireplace, just repotted—first one broken leaf, then the whole plant stripped bare. Waking, turning on the light, finding it whole. Bringing it to the ancestors and watching it unfold: the friction underneath, the questions of being resourced and supported, the fear that was not about depleting but about not knowing how support arrives. The plant as receptivity made visible—rooting, reaching, and staying open to be met. Keep reaching. And stay open enough to receive what is coming.
Closing
Start: 48:57
What I have not talked about—worthiness, and physical receiving, the homes and money and things. Today was about receiving of every other kind: messages, synchronicities, signals, opportunities, visitations. This is the beginning. The physical arrives eventually, but only if we can first hear it at the doorstep. And a gesture toward next time—what actually arrives when the field is open, and how, in the receiving, you remember you were worthy of it all along.
Guided Practice: The Smallest Possible Call
Start: 50:40
A guided closing. Settling into the body, arms open, legs uncrossed, three slow breaths. One question: what is the smallest possible call I have been hearing, and have not yet followed? The sun, a cup of Cacao, a guilt-free nap, incense and a prayer, fifteen minutes of doing nothing while the field finds you. Do not make it big. Choose one. Follow it. The smallest possible call, followed over and over, until the whole living world is in active conversation with you.
